In the photo are live grains called Tibicos. They are Chinese mushrooms given to us by one patient. According to her, it was given to her by a nun who claimed that the syrup if taken regularly can heal arthritis, diabetes, and other kinds of diseases. She instructed us on how to take care of the Tibicos and make them multiply and when and how to gather the syrup to be used as medicine. It is our first time to see Tibicos. We don't know if her claims are true or if they really are effective. We were curious so we gave it a try.

After 24 hours of the Tibicos in the small bottle, we strained the mushrooms and the filtrate is now ready for consumption as herbal medicine or probiotics for those who want to try it. It has to be taken 1/2 cup in the morning and another 1/2 cup in the evening daily until improvement from the condition is noted, according to our source.

The strained mushroom is then transferred to a bigger container (photo below). The amount is noted by counting the number of teaspoons. It is specified that a plastic spoon should be used in doing this procedure in order to prevent reaction of the mushroom when a stainless spoon is used. Once in the new container, clean water is added using a 1:1 proportion (1 tsp mushroom to 1 cup water). Sugar is then added, one teaspoonful of sugar to 3 teaspoonfuls of Tibicos. We used muscovado sugar because according to our source, it is the one which Tibicos love. We then covered the container with a clean cloth and secured the cover with a rubber band. After 24 hours, it is expected that the Tibicos will grow in number. They have to be transferred again to another container. I'll tell you next time what happens.

hi, christ in gertrud. Taking care of the tibicos took most of my time so I decided to give it to some of my patients and I just followed up. Some of them claimed to be healed from pneumonia and diabetes.

    Hello Doc.
I just came from our hometown and my father has been successfully culturing tibicos and drinking the "beverage" as alternative to beer; he has stopped drinking beer even when I and my brother had a small drinking session. :) He also said that he's generally feeling better -- started to jog again, lower blood pressure, etc.
When he told me that he has been drinking it as a subsitute for water, my concern digged in. We don't know about the toxicity level, if there is. When there is bandwidth/time, will you or a chemist friend be kind enough to get the chemical composition of the beverage (tibicos already strained/rinsed). Also its toxicity level. Can BFAD examine it also? I'm told that many people have been using this already.
Your consideration will be highly appreciated.

    Thanks and God bless.

Sorry, jerrell, but I don't have the sample anymore. And having it examined by BFAD is a lot of money. Maybe in the future some big pharmaceutical companies might see its potential and have it examined.

Bong, I am just presuming that it is safe because my patients continue to take it and they claimed that they feel good with it. But there are really no scientific studies to prove their claims.

As to where you can buy it, I really don't have any idea. The ones I had before were given to me by a patient who also taught me how to cultivate it. But because growing it is too time consuming for me, I handed it also to other patients who were willing to continue caring for it.

It is good to know that tibicos works for a lot of illnesses. But since there are still no scientific studies to support those claims, we should be careful in giving too much because we still don't know the toxicity levels.
It seems that your friend is making much from it. What we have in our community is freely given by people who have cultivated it. They share what they have for free to sick individuals.

dear doc...could it really be possible that tibicos juice/s is a toxic one. to my point of view, it could not be, because, it is just a mixture of water & a spoons of mascuvado sugar and yet the tibicos mushroom is to sensitive, they can easily be contaminated and die. I take care of them the best I can. It is still rare to our country, to find and have for it is only a matter of luck. Could there be any one who wanted to taste and try tibicos, just let me know...thank you and best regard...

One cannot tell whether something is toxic to the body or not by just looking at it, bonggalera. The chemical composition of a substance change tremendously once it is acted upon by enzymes present in the body. Anything taken in must undergo various tests to be proven that it is safe to some degree. :)

thank you doc. for all the views and ideas for all what you have shared with us...i wish, we can help other/s with what we have shared together. Thank you and best regard...

Hi there, I just got a handful of the tibicos mushroom from a kidney survivor last November 2. I was very happy to know about it because my mother is also suffering from liver and kidney problems as a result to her previous strokes. I do the preparation daily and I am so glad about the effects it has brought into my mother. The pains and sleepless nights were already gone. My entire family even my 9 months old daughter also takes 2 droppers every after meal. Since I got a lot for my family's consumption, I am already giving it to my colleages with the big hope that it will give them the same natural cure it has brought into my family. I am in Cebu, if you so need some, just email me and I would be glad to extend a help.

most of the blogs i read, always says that "their colleagues, their friend, their neighbor, someone, somewhere, etc. were cured" but I have not read any that the cure is from their own experience. Except from anne here, but still she did not gave her email address and have not returned any response.

Could it be that out of 10 people healed, only one returned to give thanks to the Lord? or out of these ten people, nobody was really cured. IF i am the one cured MIRACULOUSLY, i would shout out to the world what happened. Then again, nobody from these bloggers returned to give feedback what happened after taking this drink.

If this drink changed you, then return the favor by comment, if NOT, then do not comment, NO COMMENT means no benefit acquired. I think its as simple as that.

    hi everyone
Ive been taking tibicos for about a week my friend gave it to me.

so far it alleviate my joint-ache-problem.

i felt the ache and just about to take my usual medicine 'Allopurinol (Zyloprim)', when i decided to turn on this sort of herbal med.

just google the word tibicos and it will tell you a lot most specially on how to take care this mushroom/yeast/bacterial.

Tibicos are found around the world, with no two cultures being exactly the same. Typical tibicos have a mix of Lactobacillus, Streptococcus, Pediococcus and Leuconostoc bacteria with yeasts from Saccharomyces, Candida, Kloeckera and possibly other yeasts.
