The replica of Senor Tesoro arrived in our house yesterday without prior announcement. It came as a surprise to the whole family as we were about to leave the house to attend the anticipated mass. I gladly welcomed him as I am a devotee since my childhood. I was told that he will stay with me for one week after which He will be transfered to another neighbor's house.
I positioned Him in my altar together with the images of Jesus Crucified, Santo Nino, and Sacred Heart of Jesus.
Senor Tesoro is the most divine image of our Lord Jesus Crucified, whose shrine can be found in the town proper of Calasiao, Pangasinan. As a young girl studying in Edna's School, Dagupan City, I frequented His place where millions of devotees and recipients of His divine help flock to ask for and give thanks to all the blessings He showers. He used to stay in the municipal hall of Calasiao. Stories about Him say that He was supposed to have been transferred in the shrine constructed for Him somewhere in the town proper but nobody was able to because the people cannot carry Him. They believed that He refused to be transferred and that place became His shrine to this date.
For those who are not familiar with Senor Divino Tesoro, here is His story:
I read from the prayer book which comes with the Image that Senor was owned by Don Francisco Paramio, a resident of Calasiao. He was a childless widower who lived alone in his nipa hut with only the Image as his companion. Don Francisco devoted his precious time while still alive taking care of the Image so that nothing bad befell him during his entire life.
One day when Don Franciso was no longer around to take care of the Image, strong winds and heavy rains destroyed the roofing of Don Francisco's old house. A carpenter and a neighbor of Don Franciso whose name is Joaquin, came to the nipa hut to inspect the Image. To his surprise and disbelief, he found the image with no sign of wetness. He intended to take the Image to his house but later on changed his mind. The next day he related the incident to the Gobernadorcillo, the highest town official during that time, who immediately ordered the transfer of the Image to the municipal hall. Senor Tesoro then became the patron saint of Calasiao, Pangasinan.
Countless stories were told about the miracles of Senor Tesoro, and many devotees bear witness to the many graces and answered prayers they receive. This is why many devotees even coming from far-flung places come to Calasiao to visit and worship Him.
